- The math behind a super car...
The math behind a super car...
Truth is… while I love my Mclaren, it’s one of the cheapest things in my life. In fact, I spend more money on Hallstein Water (http://hallsteinwater.com) than I do my Mclaren.
In 2020, I bought it. The total cost? $220,000.
$50,000 down and $3,000 per month. If you then factor in everything each year, excluding gas, I’d say it costs about an extra $10,000 per year in maintaining, car washes and insurance.
Now this email actually isn’t about my car. It’s about the essence of what the car means.
I wanted a Super Car for a very long time before I bought one.
In 2017, I had a $7M year.
In 2018, I did over $10M.
I could’ve technically afforded this car back in 2016.
It took me 4 years to update my “identity” and give permission to myself to have something I really wanted.
I’d spend $50K without batting an eye on many things.
$3,000 a month? Again, barely notice it.
Without a doubt, the car has added massive ROI both in bottom-line and in happiness.
The number of ideas I had while driving…
The fun I had on long drives…
And hanging with friends and business partners.
It is worth it.
And then it comes to a few days ago…
I was organizing getting my car picked up and moved across multiple states for its service. I realized this was the “big” one that costs quite a bit.
And… I’ve been feeling the “bug” for the next car.
A matter of fact… I even prompted AI earlier this year for what I wanted my next car to look like…
Well.. I contacted my guy at Mclaren and he came back and said…
“We just got a Black 750S with Red Interior and we can wrap it for you”.
This time around… instead of waiting a bunch of time to get what I wanted. I simply texted my Wife, said it made sense and pulled the trigger… and it’s done.
I’ve found that a lot of the time you can afford what you desire… however, there is something stopping you due to giving yourself permission.
Let’s be honest.
Paying $3,000 vs. $3,600 a month isn’t going to change my life, a little bit.
But… having a brand new car…
That is the top-line Mclaren.
That extra “bit” of having what I want… will have a noticeable impact when I giggle as it accelerates.
Time and time again, I’ve found…
Follow what makes you giggle like you are 7 years old…
And then give yourself permission to have it.
